Sometimes we decide what we think God wants from us and He says, “I do not want or need that. Without love, obedience, faith, and true worship your offerings mean nothing.” God wants our hearts. He wants to be our Lord. Nothing tangible is acceptable.

King Saul made a sacrifice to God, but it isn't what God wanted. He just wanted Saul to listen to what He told him to do and do it. That's all. But instead, he did what he wanted and tried to make it work for God. He tried to get his way and then give God a gift of appeasement and that's not how our God works. That was the way of idol worshippers. God doesn't need our gifts or sacrifices. The sacrifices are to provide atonement for our sins and if we aren't repentant, then they are pointless.

Live thru Jesus
Saul
From the time God sent Moses to deliver the Israelites from Egypt, the Lord had appointed them leaders. Just before Moses died, God told him to anoint Joshua to succeed him. Then, after Joshua, God began raising up judges. But they wanted a king like every other nation. So, they asked Samuel to appoint one for them and Saul was the man God directed him to.
